mourad >> biography >>

Mourad, originally from Tunis in Tunisia, started his dj-career in the mid-eighties playing hip hop. He sharpened his skills through-out the years by incorporating electro, soul, reggae and rare groove. His love for soul and jazz came from an eclectic father who was, and still is very serious about his music. In the early 90's he moved to Sweden whilst continuing to explore all areas of the the musical field, and got involved in The Lodge Club, a small monthly techno club close to his home. In addition, he travelled around Sweden playing at various clubs, raves, and small underground parties.

As a DJ, his sets are known for being diverse and highly loaded with soul and funk, blending the sound of Detroit techno, deep house & african tribal rhythms. His skills behind the decks, and his huge knowledge on what it takes to rock a dancefloor, has caused him to play with people like Larry Heard, Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Alexi Delano, Dimitri from Amsterdam, and Olivier le Castor to mention a few. It has also taken him to play all over Europe and all the way to Asia.

He is also responsible for helping out and supporting Swedish labels like gfr (formerly G-Force) and Wrong Steps.
